A Dilemma

and a Solution

With the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, all University facilities were shut down. This meant that I no longer had access to the laser cutter, something which was an integral part of my project, without the laser cutter, there wouldn't be a window, not one to the standard at which I wanted to develop. I had to find a solution and I think I already had the answer to my own problem.

When I was enquiring about perspex to see if companies would be interested in sponsoring the project, I made several designs, examples of how I wanted the window to look. These were created digitally by layering the drawings I made on illustrator and some of the backgrounds I created with the paint. I then manipulated the pieces, putting them in position to show them within their setting.

This is an interesting concept when it comes to developing my project as it has always been about a work that is supposed to look like something it isn't. This seems to work in a similar way, just taking it a step further by not creating the physical object, but manipulating something to make it seem as though I have.

Not only can I position my windows in the setting of the university, but I now have the power to put them wherever I please, testing them out in different settings.
