Mapping things out

A Dilemma and a solution

With the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, all University facilities were shut down. This meant that I no longer had access to the laser cutter, something which was an integral part of my project, without the laser cutter, there wouldn't be a window, not one to the standard at which I wanted to develop. I had to find a solution and I think I already had the answer to my own problem.

Once I had developed a couple of potential final designs, I wanted to see how I was going to add the colour element to the windows.

Following on from the creation of my new designs, I wanted to expand my research and look at artists out of the realm of stained glass.

Developing new designs

From the drawings I had created based on the buildings of Huddersfield, I created some digital drawings which would be work on the laser cutter to develop an architectural design.

Revisiting Architectural drawings

After much consideration and experimenting with the design aspect of my windows. I decided that I wanted to revisit the architectural drawings I had created last year and incorporate them into my final year designs, as well as creating new ones.

The Secular

Exploring the differences between secular and non secular stained glass. How can shapes and patterns be related to religion?
