Lino Printing

When looking at some of the old maps and plans for the building I had been researching, I felt that I needed to find a way of incorporating them into my final designs. I realised that there were a few larger sections of perspex which could be printed on in some form. I felt that experimenting with lino would be an exciting and interesting way of adding another layer to the project.

To begin with, I developed an A5 print inspired by the aerial view of the area some of the buildings depicted in the window were located. I realised that the scale was a little too big for the segments of perspex I had, but I wanted to test out as a print. Despite the size, I was happy with how it appeared, I liked the way the ink took shape, mocking the print quality of some of the old maps of the area I had been studying.

From this print, I wanted to expand the way of working by making some further lino prints, ones that would be detailed enough that the design would fit on the perspex pieces and still allow light to emit through it.
