Handcut Windows.
The practical side of the project began with me creating hand-cut window frames. I felt that simply drawing them wasn't enough, there needed to be a way to see the light through them. By looking at the shapes of stained glass windows and also adding my own elements, I was able to hand cut a couple of windows.
This took a long time and was quite painful to do when tackling a large piece in one go and having to maintain precision, so after creating a couple of pieces, which I was happy with, it was suggested that I explore other methods of creating a similar outcome. This led me to the use of illustrator, from which I would be able to use the laser cutter in order to gain precisely finished drawings which didn't take their toll on my hands.
First, I had to learn how to use the program.
